Our strength comes from the Lord!

Monday was an eventful day. We all praised God that he gave us strength through the day. We started our morning packing up our things from the hotel to leave to the island of Tierra Bomba. We put all of our bags in Pastor Tim’s car so that we could walk faster to the beach where we going to take a boat to the island. Hoping unto the boat is such an interesting experience. The boat was docked on the sand and the waves were crashing at us. Our team needed two boats, first boat was for all of our things and the second boat was for our team of 14. The boat ride was about a 15 minute ride not too bad. Once we got off the boat we had wheel our bags half a mile on a dirt road to the house/church we were staying at. This place we were staying at was called Refuge. When we got to the Refuge we met up with Pastor Alex and his with Carolina. Some of the girls got to settle in there rooms but the others had to wait because they stayed in the classroom. They were so welcoming and excited that we were here to help with their ministry.

Once we got settled in, the kids in the school were on a break and we got to hangout with them. Some people on the team have been on this trip to Colombia and were able to rebuild their relationship with the leaders and with the kids. It was so sweet watching the kids face light up when they saw the returners but they were also excited to see the new people. After reconnecting we had a little free time to eat lunch and head over to the beach. It was the same beach we were dropped off at. After the beach we came back and changed for evangelizing with some of the locals. When evangelizing in the town our team got to split up into smaller groups with a translator who was a local. During our time of evagelizing the families were very welcoming and invited us into their houses. We got to share the gospel with and invited them to attend the church service that is offered on Wednesdays at the Refuge. We were out in the town for about 2 hours until we met up with the other teams on the cliff to watch the sunset. We headed back to the Refuge after getting some pictures in with the team.

After we got back we ate dinner. Some of the team was helping with the worship on Wednesday so they had rehearsal that night with some of the kids who went to the school and Carolina. The rest of them spent their time bonding with each other just sharing a lot of laughter and encouraging the worship team. This practice lasted about 3 hours. Some team members stayed up talking with the field partners or went to bed. Later that night Aaliyah and Soraya got to have a good conversation with Carolina where they shared their testimonies with one another before everyone else went to bed.
