Day 5 - Evangelism and callings

Noelle Eberly - March 22nd, 2023

With our last full day on the island we prepared ourselves for a day of evangelism. We started the morning with a devotional with the kids from Calvary Chapel El Refugio and then paired off with both Americans and CCA students to go into the town and evangelize. For the students we were in their home town so they guided us to the houses that they felt needed evangelism. Everyone split up and dispersed into the town leaving each group with their own testimonies from the day. Coming back from a beautiful experience of sharing the gospel our team hung out with the students before cleaning up the chapel space and preparing for the evening Church service. During the service the Holy Spirit was dwelling. Some of our team even joined the CCA students during worship and helped to sing in both Spanish and English. Dan spoke a powerful sermon to the audience. He spoke on Deuteronomy 7:6-8, Genesis 12:1-3, and Corinthians 12:9-10. A quick summary to what he spoke on: all christians have a specific calling in our life which has been so uniquely created by the hand of God into our hearts. We were reminded that God is powerful enough to lead us in those callings even when we may not feel equipped to fulfill it. God is bigger than any of our weaknesses, for He will give us strength when our path is lined up with His. God shows His power and glory through our struggles. Once the service was over, we had a dance party with the kids - having the chance to show off our wonderful dance moves. We then ate a yummy dinner as a team and shared a few things that we have learned from being in the community of Tierra Bomba. After, we all partnered up with someone and had the beautiful opportunity to pray over one another. It was a time of complete honesty and vulnerability. A perfect last moment for our last night on Tierra Bomba. Then, to end the night, everyone came together and had time to chill and relax. Some played card games, some talked, and others made bracelets with one another - a time of rest after a full day. The Lord has moved a ton not just through the community of Tierra Bomba but also through each one of our hearts. We were sad for it to be the last day on the island but we know that the Lord has so much more planned for them in the future. We are very excited to watch and support them as they grow their church community and continue to spread the gospel all throughout the island!
