Goodbye for now
03/12/2026
It started off being a hard, sad morning. I was reminded how much I hate saying goodbye.
To the students of Tierra Bomba, I am so glad the Lord provided this opportunity for me to meet you all. It is crazy to think how much meeting people for three days can change your life completely. I am so grateful for you all. If I am unable to meet you again, I pray that the Lord blesses and protects you. May you continue to grow in your faith and chase after the plans that he has laid out for you.
Immediately after landing back on Cartagena from our boat ride, we had to go straight to the school in the city to present our presentations. In sort of eased the pain of leaving Tierra Bomba, since we shifted our focus on something else. After about 2.5 hours of presentations we finished and we had a couple of hours of break before dinner and evangelizing. What happened during that break is by far my favorite part of the trip. Most of the team members went shopping, a few decided to rest at the hotel but only Lili, Soraya, and Jack decided to go to the beach. I was very confused about this fact. It was a beautiful, sunny day- perfect weather for the beach- and no one else was interested in going.
We decided to go anyway, I thought it could even be a good opportunity to bond and get to know each other more. As we were enjoying the water, a young man approached and asked in spainsh if we were Americans. At first Lili responded in Spiansh, he immediately laughed and admitted he was from Chicago. We talked for a little bit, and explained we were on spring break with 14 of us for the week. Immediately talking to him we felt we should share the gospel but we weren’t sure if we were allowed to so we decided if we ran into him again we would share the gospel with him. All four of us ended up getting in trouble with the life guard because the tide took us out. so we began to have a conversation with him and the door opened us to us about how we were on a missions trip and got to share about what we were doing during it. The guy we were talking to was named Sebie, he was very interested in getting to know about what we believe in and was asking questions. Jack did a good job of explaining what it meant , our purpose and how it would effect our lives. We then asked him what he believed in and he openly shared about his life. We encouraged him to begin read the Bible.
Once we got back with the others we got to eat dinner right before we went to evangelize in the city. Where we evangelized it looked like the intercoastal in West Palm Beach. Which is a good reminder how we should share the gospel anywhere, even at home where it should be most comfortable.
